Nina and Nicole here. Sorry to go radio silent on you all but it has been a busy summer.

With fall, we’ll be back with regular episodes of the podcast but also, we have the Island Story Slampionship coming up.

What is a ‘slampionship’ besides a word Nina may have made up?

Think of ‘The Moth’ (live stories told on stage without notes) but an MDI version. All stories will have a ‘dark and stormy’ theme. We’ll have prizes, a signature cocktail, and more fun at the main event coming up.

Leading up to this we’ve been holding preliminary events in Bar Harbor, Northeast Harbor, Southwest Harbor, and next week, COA. (Friday October 14 , Thorndike Library at 7 PM is your last chance to tell a story in the preliminary round!) The top three storytellers from each event will go onto the main stage at the Criterion on Saturday October 22 at 7 PM. Buy your tickets now! All proceeds are being split between us (for some much needed recording equipment), Jesup Memorial Library, and The 1932 Criterion Theatre. Support local storytelling year round on MDI!

Also at the event will be the winners from the Kids Story Slampionship held at the Jesup Library on Saturday, October 15 at 1 pm. Come support local kids and their stories at that event too; we’ll certainly be there!

Tell your friends and you can see our ridiculous car videos on our Facebook page to learn even more details about this fantastic collaboration.

See you soon and thanks for being a friend,

Nicole and Nina
